This is a performance centred course, structured around the creation of specific projects and the development of your vocational skills. Skills in performance are enhanced and developed through a number of practical projects, ensemble and individual activities including street theatre, acting workshops in different performance styles, variety, cabaret and Shakespeare. You will research the cultural and historical background of the performing arts and explore the various technical and backstage aspects of the performing arts industry.

In both years, you will take part in and organise performances with-in the Studio School, the community, and local commercial theatres. You will be assessed throughout the course, based on your class work and/or coursework and not through formal exams.

You will have the opportunity to be part of workshops and master classes run by professional actors and directors of stage and film performance.

 

Specific requirements

You should have gained 5 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A*-C. In addition, you must have achieved a grade C or above in Drama or Dance GCSE, or an equivalent, relevant qualification, which could include, for example, a Distinction in a BTEC Level 2 in Performing Arts. You will also demonstrate a passion and interest in the Performing Arts and Entertainment industry. You will also be required to attend a practical workshop, which will allow you to demonstrate your skills in performance.
