What will I study

You will explore the ways people think and why people behave in certain ways. The mind is something intangible that exists within our brain; an unseen process of enzymes, chemicals and electric currents. But why is it that some people suffer from stress or mental illness? Or that others are considered abnormal for deviating from social norms? Psychology looks at questions like these and more. It’s a fascinating science with cutting edge research that has real world applications that you are bound to find interesting. Psychology is a great subject to study because it will not only give you a number of transferable skills, including analytical thinking, improved communication, problem solving and many more that will also teach you more about the way people think. You will learn a variety of skills to prepare you for an exciting future with the possibility of a range of fantastic careers. The course works well with our creative specialisms or with an academic or business focus.

The course is assessed entirely by examination – two papers for AS level and three papers for A2.

What could I do afterwards

This course can lead on to a university degree in one of the following, but not limited to, Psychology, English Studies, Sociology, Visual Arts, Business Studies, Teaching or Law. If you decide to continue in this specialism then future career options include Marketing, Business Development, Accountancy, Human Resources, Forensic Psychology, Occupational Therapy, Clinical Psychology, Nursing and Teaching.
