What will I study?
The Level 2 Diploma in Art & Design provides students with an opportunity to explore some of the materials methods and processes whilst developing creativity within a structure that provides a sound base of skills and knowledge but also enhances self-confidence and reveals the potential career demands and opportunities that exist in the sector. The qualification will also help students to begin to develop related technical skills and to build a portfolio of art and design work. Learning will be through practical activities and projects. Students will be encouraged to explore and experiment and to experience a wide range of art and design methods to develop creativity and a professional and responsible approach to learning. Activities may include painting, drawing, graphics, illustration, 3D model making, fashion, textiles, printmaking and the use of new technologies. Assessment throughout the course will be formative to support and encourage learning and provide an opportunity for feedback. Only the final unit will be graded which require students to research, organize, plan, produce and present a personal project. This course will provide an insight to various specialisms within Art and Design that enables you to pursue methods, materials and processes at level 3, subject choices may include; Textiles, Photography, Graphics, Fashion, Art History, Illustration and Drawing. Students will look at prose, media, fiction and non-fiction texts from the twentieth century. Students will study the written language in non-fiction and fiction texts to develop their reading and writing skills. Similarly, they will also improve their speaking and listening skills through a series of individual, group and dramatic tasks, and write a response on the use of spoken language. Students will also undertake home learning, consolidating work already studied. Students will be examined in English by both controlled assessments, speaking and listening assessments and final written papers. An understanding of our language and text is essential in all walks of life and is a basic requirement for all college courses. This course will provide a vital pathway for those wishing to continue to A Level English Language. ENGLISH LANGUAGE GCSE Who are we without our words? Melina Marchetta What will I study? Digital moving image production and creative media production are some of the fastest growing areas within the creative industries. This course prepares students for further education in media, film, video and television production and offers students the opportunity to develop an understanding of creative media methods and skills with practical production techniques, especially in digital moving image production. This is a practical, work-related course. Students will learn through projects, which will be based on realistic workplace situations. Students can work on editing, credits, visual effects, lighting and graphics projects to create their own documentary and art films. Alongside film making, you will also get an insight into cultural context, the origins and evolution of film. Students work on solo and team projects producing digital videos often writing, directing, filming and editing their own projects. Rye studio offers a ‘real world’ approach to projects and students are involved in producing works that contribute to larger scale public projects and commissions. The UAL award in Creative Media Production is delivered across two practical units and is the equivalent to a GCSE, students are assessed internally via coursework and practical ability there is no exam for this course.
