The GCSE English Literature course will also be taught as a series of projects,
based around assessments on speaking, listening, reading and writing. Students
will look at fiction, poetry and drama.
Students will study prose from different cultures in context and do comparative
studies of contemporary poetry. They will examine individual texts in context in
a comparative study of a play and a novel. A Shakespeare play will be studied
Students will also undertake home learning, consolidating work already studied
and will be examined by both controlled assessments and final written papers.
This course will provide a vital pathway for those wishing to continue to A Level
English Literature or the Combined English Literature and Language course.
