This performing arts course will enable students to develop their skills in a
number of disciplines. It allows students opportunities for skill development in
one or more of the performing arts disciplines (dance, acting and singing) and
to learn about the job roles within the performing industries. The double GCSE
offers pupils the chance to experience the performing arts industry via real life
projects.

Students will work within a performing arts company realising the importance
of everyone’s role within this structure. Responding to set commissions enables
students to develop their creativity and engage with all aspects of production.
Candidates have the opportunity to work and engage with professionals from
the performing arts industry to inform their creative work.

This qualification is an appropriate foundation for progression into A levels
or BTEC courses within the performing arts. There will be additional trips to
local and national theatres and venues throughout the course. The course
also provides a worthwhile introduction to a wide range of personal and
organisational skills, which are valuable within the work place.
