It is a mix of practical classes with some theory and suits students who are willing and eager to get hands on with performance projects and events as a member of a production team.
Core areas of study include; Assistant Stage Management, Production Planning, Production for Theatre Performance and Production Arts Workshop. In addition to this, the course includes a wide range of other units ranging from stage lighting and sound to the design and construction of scenery for the stage or sets for TV and film.
Assessment is a combination of in-class practical assessments, written and design-based portfolio work, and large scale assessments where students are assessed on their practical and organisational input into live performances, including full-scale shows, studio performances, drama exams and music performances.
You should have gained 4 GCSEs (or equivalent) at grades A*-C. In addition, an interest in theatre is essential as well as a willingness to put in extra time after College and outside of lessons, sometimes at weekends, gaining practical experience by supporting local performances and events.
