What will I study?
What will I study?
The Theatrical Hair and Make Up course blends learning at the Studio with industry experience at a salon to support performers, photographers, stylists and fashion. This course will suit students who have an interest in hair and beauty, theatricality, performance, style and design. From the foundations of client liaison, brush work, colour theory and design, students will apply their skills to real world briefs within our in house theatre company to enhance the productions of dance, drama and music. Theatrical Hair and Make Up will be created for stage and screen and designing for the TV studio will be developed during this course. Art lessons are integral to studies for a deep colour knowledge and to inspire avant garde concepts for the catwalk or West End.
The course is enriched with study visits to photo shoots, stylist events, theatre trips and study days at Pinewood Shepperton. Visiting practitioners from the world of theatre, film and TV will deliver tuition alongside work placements. This is a demanding course and attendance will be required at many evenings and weekends. Students will need to purchase their own make –up kit ( details are available on the website).
Units delivered within the course include Production Arts Workshop, Make Up Application Skills and Creative Uses in Performance. Optional units cover Production Arts planning, Make Up for Performers, Period Make Up for Performing Arts, Make Up using Prosthetics and Fantasy Hair Design for Performers.
